The Board is buzzing this summer! Even though we’re taking our summer break from chapter meetings, board members are very busy. We have exciting things going on with programs, with membership, with special projects, and with communications. I’ll let each of these board members fill you in with details, and I’ll simply say: watch for new developments in our program offerings for the rest of this year, new meeting options, and new ways we communicate with members!
National ASTD requires that all chapters meet Chapter Operating Requirements (CORE). We have fallen short of these requirements for the past several years and we are “on a mission” to make sure we meet all of them this year. Cindy Brendel, our president-elect, is providing guidance and focus for this effort.
I’m pleased to announce that Barb Crockett is our new Vice President of Communications. Barb has been an active member of this committee for some time and brings a lot of knowledge and experience. I’m pleased to have her “on board” on the Board.
We have reluctantly accepted the resignation of Bob Kalal as VP of Administration, due to personal and business time conflicts. This position remains open at present.
I urge each of you to consider your involvement with ASTD. Remember, you get out of it what you put into it. We have opportunities for one-time volunteering, for committee membership, and for 2010 board membership. Please contact me personally or another board member to discuss how you can maximize the benefits of your membership.
