Generation "Soup": Age Diversity & Implications for the Learning Function

Description and Speaker:

An unprecedented mix of generations is present today in the American workplace. The resulting "soup bowl" of age groups presents challenges in every aspect of HR work. As if that's not enough, baby boomers (generally those born between 1946 and 1964) will be reaching retirement age within the next five to ten years. What are the implications for the learning function? What actions should be taken to prepare for the imminent knowledge drain? How should we adapt our training and development strategies to effectively meet the unique needs of the emerging generations? These and other thought provoking questions will be looked at in this engaging presentation. You will have a chance to conduct a quick "audit" of your training and development practices to assess readiness for those now entering the workplace.

Rebecca Judd has 18 years of professional instructional design and delivery experience working with a wide variety of Fortune 500 companies in the St. Louis area including Ameren, Anheuser-Busch, Monsanto, Maritz, and Boeing. Rebecca has both personal and professional passion on the topic of age diversity and how meeting the development needs of emerging generations will present unique challenges for the learning professional.
